Canggu has changed fast in recent years. Between the remaining rice fields of Berawa, Pererenan and Batu Bolong there are now villas, cafes and coworking spaces, and many of the people living here are young families from overseas. Some arrived with a toddler, some work remotely and rent a villa for a year, and some have started a business of their own.

For families like these, communication is often the first requirement. An English-speaking nanny or housekeeper makes daily life much easier, from the kids' nap schedule to the shopping list. Most Canggu villas have a pool and a garden, so many families combine a housekeeper for the house, a gardener who comes regularly and a driver for the school run along the narrow, busy roads toward Kerobokan or Umalas. If the villa is also rented out, keep guest duties separate from the family's own housework so the workload stays clear.
