Nanny (Toddlers & Young Children)

A nanny for children from about age two through the early primary school years. She runs the daily routine, helps with the school run, plays with them and builds good habits at home.

Around age two, a child's needs change. They ask endless questions, have playgroup or kindergarten on the calendar, and need an adult who sticks to the house rules. A nanny fills that role while you're at work, from the time your child wakes up until they're ready for bed.

Nanny or ART?

A housekeeper (in Indonesia, an ART, short for asisten rumah tangga) looks after the house. A nanny looks after the children. The only housework a nanny does is directly tied to the kids, like washing their clothes, tidying their room and toys and packing their lunch. If you need one person for both, have a look at our housekeeper with childcare service.

Duties families usually agree on

  • School mornings, plus drop-off or pickup with the driver
  • Homework help, reading aloud, writing and coloring
  • Active play at home or in the park, screen time your way
  • Meals and lunch boxes from the menu you set
  • A daily WhatsApp update on meals, naps and big moments

When a nanny makes the biggest difference

Families with two kids close in age sometimes have a nanny for the older one while a baby sitter looks after the younger. Other parents travel for work a lot and want their child's days to stay the same whether they're home or not. For expat families, or households where English is spoken at home, we can look for a nanny who speaks English or another foreign language, although the pool of candidates is smaller.

If you only need someone for a few hours, say while you attend a wedding or for a kids corner at an office event, see our hourly & event nanny service.

Q&A

Can the nanny correct or discipline my child?
She follows your approach. Talk through what she can and can't do when your child refuses to eat or has a meltdown, so nobody is caught off guard.

Live-in or live-out?
Either works. A live-out nanny, who comes in each day and goes home in the evening, suits parents with regular working hours. If you often get home late or leave before dawn, a live-in nanny is usually more practical.

Before we put anyone forward, we interview them and check their documents. You still meet and interview them yourself. How we select candidates is described on the About page, and fees and the guarantee are in the FAQ. Fill in the request form to get started.
